All staff in the pre-school have been carefully selected for important personal qualities in addition to their qualifications and experience. They are all warm, caring people who are genuinely friendly and show patience and understanding towards children.
We work in partnership with parents and staff are always available to discuss your child´s day and deal with any queries you may have. The staff work hard to allow them the independence they strive for but within a safe environment.
Early Years Teacher Status and BA Honours Degree in Early Childhood Studies
Hi my name is Sue and I am the education co-ordinator of both of our Pre-School nurseries (Eden court and Pirehill). I have completed the Early years teacher status so am a qualified teacher delivering the education to our young children’s lives.
I have over 12 years of experience of working with children along with being a mum to two older boys.
I have achieved paediatric first aid, food hygiene, Safeguarding level 1 and Early years foundation stage review for leaders and managers working in the private, voluntary and independent sector.
I am responsible for the day to day education at both of our pre-schools. I ensure that all of the children receive an educated day in a caring and fun way. I fully support and guide all of the staff involved in the pre-school’s overseeing the delivery of the education providing each pre-school with the resources and activities they need each week. I aim to give the children the best possible start in life. I also ensure all development records and observations are carried out.
Working with children is so rewarding because I get to watch them learn and develop. I can support their learning and development so that every child can reach their full potential. I feel a responsibility to give each child the best care, education and support possible so that they can become successful adults.
I am an organised person and enjoy studying for my degree and researching for all new ideas, I like to read and bake with the children. I enjoy coming to work and working within a pre-school setting.
NVQ Level 3
Hi my name is Tim and I am the manager of our Pre-School at Eden court nursery. I am also a nursery driver qualified to drive our nursery vehicles.
I have over 13 years service with Smartys and experience of working with children.
I have achieved paediatric first aid, food hygiene, Safeguarding level 1 and level 2, ENCO level 1 and 2, effective team meetings, health and safety unit 1 and 2, autism awareness, moving and handling, EYFS observation and assessment, I am responsible for the day to day running of the pre-school, building good relationships with all prospective and current parents, along with all children and staff. I am on hand to support all staff in their roles. With the support of our education co-ordinator I help to oversee the delivery of the education providing our children with the best possible start in life. I am a key person ensuring all development records and observations are carried out.
Working with children is a very rewarding to see the achievements of the individuals in our care grow and develop over a period of time. I enjoy boosting their confidence and self esteem as well as enhancing their own individual personalities and giving them the social skills that they will need to tackle situations and opportunities later on in the future.
I am a very sporty person offering physical education to all of the children I look after along with running the holiday club during the school holidays including arranging trips and organising activities.

NVQ Level 3Hi my name is Steph and I am the deputy manager of the pre-school nursery.
I have 15 years experience of working with children including being a mum to my daughter.
I have achieved paediatric first aid, food hygiene, Safeguarding level 1 and level 2, EYFS observation and assessment, autism awareness, moving and handling, I am responsible for supporting the manager with the day to day running of the pre-school nursery, looking after parents, children and staff within the building, deploying staff, organising activities, assisting with planning and development records along with the daily paperwork of the nursery.
I love to work with children as this has always been a passion of mine, I enjoy being a part of their young lives, making a difference to them and their parents. I enjoy watching them develop in all areas of learning and most important making sure they are happy, loved and safe.
I am committed to my career along with being a very caring, kind and focused member of the team. I also like to be organised and am very clean and tidy whilst in my job.

Hi my name is Vici (known as Vici T to the children) and I am the deputy manager of the pre-school along with being the room supervisor for the upstairs rooms in our pre-school nursery. I am also a relief deputy manager.
I have 6 years experience with Smartys along with being a mum to 4 young children.
I have achieved paediatric first aid, food hygiene, Safeguarding level 1, EYFS training observation and assessment, health and safety level 1 and 2, speech and language, play tonics, effective team meetings and autism awareness.
I am responsible for supporting the room supervisor in the day to day running of the upstairs rooms, along with supporting the manager when required, I ensure everyone receives a happy, warm and welcoming environment, ensuring all children’s needs are met along with completing planning and development records for children, building good relationships with parents, children and staff.
I love my job because every day is different, I go work and see a room full of children waiting to see me and share something with me. I enjoy sharing the uniqueness of every child, laughing and learning. I enjoy helping the children as much as they need help, promoting a fun and much loved environment.
I am a very outgoing person with a fabulous personality, I have a passion for reading stories and enjoy the drama aspect of being in childcare. I like to keep my rooms tidy and I enjoy doing arts and crafts with the children.

Hi my name is Vicky and I am a senior nursery nurse in the Pre-School nursery.
I have 8 years service with Smartys and experience of working with children including being a mum to my 1 year old little girl.
I have achieved paediatric first aid, food hygiene, safeguarding level 1, behaviour level 1, EYFS training observation and assessment, ENCO level 1 and 2, behaviour level 1 and 2, planning courses, music and movement, speech and language and autism awareness.
I am currently working towards my level 2 in supporting special needs (SENCO).
I am responsible for supporting the manager within the day to day running of the pre-school nursery, ensuring my room runs smoothly along with ensuring the children, staff and parents welfare and health are met at all times. I ensure that all of my children in my care are planned for along with checking development records and being a key worker. I provide all of the children with a safe environment making sure they are happy and well looked after. I enjoy communicating with the parents on a daily basis.
I enjoy working with children because I like to bond with them and I enjoy watching them learn and develop into children ready for big school. I find working with children very rewarding.
I like to be very artistic and creative with the children in my care and I have a very caring and kind nature. I enjoy my job and enjoy coming into work.

Hi my name is Emily and I am a nursery nurse in our pre-school nursery.
I have over 4 years experience of working with children .
I have achieved paediatric first aid, food hygiene, Safeguarding level 1 and EYFS observation and assessment.
I am responsible and enjoy aiding the room supervisor with the day to day running of the rooms, I aim to meet each child’s individual needs and ensure children are cared for and supervised appropriately. I enjoy helping senior staff members complete the daily tasks that are required throughout the day.
I provide all of the children with a happy and stimulating environment whilst they are in our care. I am a key worker within the setting and enjoy completing their individual profiles.
I enjoy helping the children to achieve their individual goals by planning appropriate and carrying out the activities to benefit them. I enjoy working with all age groups and ensure that they are happy whilst developing in each of the areas.
I pride myself in having excellent communication skills with the parents and children, I enjoy being creative and carrying out activities that the children want to do. I like to keep things tidy and am very helpful and caring towards everyone.
