Our School Club Team
Smartys popular before / after school and holiday club is based within the grounds of Pirehill First School operating from the main school hall sharing access to the school’s play grounds and outdoor space.
Our operating times are from 7:30am until 9:00am for before school care and from 3:30pm until 6:00pm for after school care. Our holiday club is open daily from 7:30am until 6:00pm during all of the school holidays.
NVQ Level 3
Hi my name is Tim and I am the manager of our Pre-School at Eden court nursery. I am also a nursery driver qualified to drive our nursery vehicles.
I have over 13 years service with Smartys and experience of working with children.
I have achieved paediatric first aid, food hygiene, Safeguarding level 1 and level 2, ENCO level 1 and 2, effective team meetings, health and safety unit 1 and 2, autism awareness, moving and handling, EYFS observation and assessment, I am responsible for the day to day running of the pre-school, building good relationships with all prospective and current parents, along with all children and staff. I am on hand to support all staff in their roles. With the support of our education co-ordinator I help to oversee the delivery of the education providing our children with the best possible start in life. I am a key person ensuring all development records and observations are carried out.
Working with children is a very rewarding to see the achievements of the individuals in our care grow and develop over a period of time. I enjoy boosting their confidence and self esteem as well as enhancing their own individual personalities and giving them the social skills that they will need to tackle situations and opportunities later on in the future.
I am a very sporty person offering physical education to all of the children I look after along with running the holiday club during the school holidays including arranging trips and organising activities.
I always try to present myself in a professional way being friendly and welcoming to all children, staff and parents, a dedicated and committed member of the Smartys team.
NVQ Level 3Hi my name is Alison and I am the deputy manager at our before and after school / holiday club. I am also a nursery nurse in our Pirehill Pre-School nursery.
I have years experience of working with children along with being a mum to two older children.
I have achieved paediatric first aid, Safeguarding level 1, food hygiene, health and safety in childcare setting and promoting the health and hygiene of children.
I am responsible and enjoy aiding the manager with the day to day running of the school and holiday club.
NVQ Level 3 in Playwork
Hi my name is Mandy and I am a senior playworker at our after school club.
I have over 14 years experience of working with children along with being a mum to my older daughter.
I have achieved paediatric first aid, Safeguarding level 1, pre-school practice, NVQ level 2 customer relations, emergency and basic first aid, managing children’s behaviour, special needs awareness, sports and health awareness, various beauty qualifications and many more.
I am responsible and enjoy aiding the manager and senior staff with the day to day running of the school hall. I help to ensure that the areas run smoothly by keeping the rooms tidy and safe for the children to play in. I enjoy interacting with all children, staff and parents and am happy to do any duties that are required from me.
I enjoy working with children because it is very rewarding being able to look after and care for someone’s precious little one !! Each day is a surprise, a child’s laugh is the best sound !!
I always try to be an organised person who is very punctual. I am an older mummy and I am a member of the girl guiding Staffordshire looking after the rainbow section (children aged from 5-7 years). I enjoy travelling to work every afternoon.
NVQ Level 3 in Playwork
Hi my name is Leanne and I am a play worker at our before and after school / holiday club.
I have over 7 years experience of working with children along with looking after families children.
I have achieved paediatric first aid, Safeguarding level 1, food hygiene level 1 and EYFS training.
I am responsible and enjoy aiding the manager and senior staff with the day to day running of the school hall. I follow the EYFS and all of the clubs policies throughout my day helping to ensure that the areas run smoothly by keeping the rooms tidy and safe for the children to play in. I ensure that all of the children are happy and enjoy their time at the club. I like to liase with the manager and under take all duties required from me. I enjoy doing the walking bus to and from the middle school ensuring the children’s safety is met at all times. I like to build excellent relationships with all of the children and make them feel safe and secure.
I enjoy working with children because I feel it is a very rewarding job, I love being with the children, they always make me smile and make the job worth while. They remind me why i chose a career in childcare.
I am a very tidy person and like to be involved in all activities. I am happy to travel to work every morning and afternoon.

Hi my name is Mark and I am a nursery nurse in our pre-school nursery and school / holiday club.
I have over 3 years experience of working with children.
I have achieved paediatric first aid, food hygiene, Safeguarding level 1 and EYFS training.
I am responsible and enjoy aiding the manager and senior staff with the day to day running of the pre-school classroom and school hall. I help to ensure that the areas run smoothly by keeping the rooms tidy and safe for the children to play in. I enjoy helping and assisting with the daily activities and helping to complete the relevant paperwork that is required from me. I really enjoy interacting with the children each day.
I enjoy working with children because each day is different, the children present unique challenges and all behave and interact in different ways, often with humerous results. It provides a great deal of enjoyment and pleasure.
I always try to be an organised person who is very punctual and willing to go the extra mile to help others. I am looking forward to achieving my level 3 and can honestly say that I enjoy travelling to work every day.
PSV and CPC Driver Trained
Hi my name is Clive and I am the nursery driver.
I have nearly 2 years experience of working with children along with being a parent to two children and a grandparent to one.
I have achieved Safeguarding level 1, ONC in business studies, PGDIP in operations management, PSV and CPC trained in driving a mini bus / coach.
I am responsible for the safe transportation of the children to and from the local schools. It is my role as a driver to take the children to school and pick them up using the nursery minibus. I ensure that the children’s safety is paramount at all times. I also ensure that all of the relevant documentation and paperwork that is required for the PSV license is completed this includes daily checks of the vehicles and regular contact with the transport manager. I also ensure that the buses are cleaned and ready to use each week.
I enjoy driving the buses each day, it is only a minor way to assist the children but it is very rewarding knowing that I have been a part of their lives taking them to and from school, acting out the role of a parent.
I am a very reliable, organised and systematic member of the team ensuring the smooth running of the daily school runs at all times.
Rachel Reynolds – ‘Smartys’ General Manager
NVQ Level 3 QualifiedI would like to introduce myself as the Manager of Baby Nursery, my name is Rachel, for those of you who do not know me I am also the General Manager for the company along with being the Baby Nursery manager, I have worked for Smartys for 15 years joining the company when I left school at 16. I am a fully qualified nursery nurse and have completed other numerous courses to enhance my knowledge and practice. I look forward to making your time in the playhouse a very happy occasion.

I am responsible for the day to day running of Smartys supporting and working alongside the owner, I am responsible for guiding staff in their roles, building good relationships with all prospective (by showing them around the nurseries) and current parents (open days, parents evenings), along with all children and staff. I help to look after all of the admin at head office for the company along with playing an active part in the daily running of the toddler building completing the daily paperwork for this building. I am on hand to support the managers of our other settings and support all staff in their roles. I am the settings SENCO working with and supporting the children and parents in the toddlers playhouse. I always strive to do my very best and enjoy all aspects of my job.
Working with children has always been a passion of mine, I knew this is what I wanted to do from a very young age. I strive to be a very happy, positive and sociable person. It is my aim to offer all of the children in my care a happy, safe and stimulating environment. I thrive on watching the children grow through our settings and feel very honoured to have been a part of their young lives. I am also a very organised, tidy and artistic person offering the children a wide variety of sensory and creative activities. I also enjoy being an Aunty to my young niece.
I always try to present myself in a professional way offering a friendly and welcoming environment to all of my staff and parents, offering the enthusiasm and motivation to my team. I thoroughly enjoy my job and am a very dedicated and committed member of the team, I cannot imagine working anywhere other than Smartys.
