All staff in the pre-school have been carefully selected for important personal qualities in addition to their qualifications and experience. They are all warm, caring people who are genuinely friendly and show patience and understanding towards children.
We work in partnership with parents and staff are always available to discuss your child´s day and deal with any queries you may have. The staff work hard to allow them the independence they strive for but within a safe environment.
Eden Court Manager/ General Manager
Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies
I would like to introduce myself as the Manager of Eden Court, my name is Rachel, for those of you who do not know me I am also the General Manager for the company along with being the Baby Nursery manager, I have worked for Smartys for 18 years joining the company when I left school at 16. I am a fully qualified nursery nurse and have completed other numerous courses to enhance my knowledge and practice. I look forward to making your time in the playhouse a very happy occasion.
I have achieved the following qualifications: paediatric first aid, food hygiene, Safeguarding level 1 and level 2, ENCO level 1 and 2, effective team meetings, health and safety unit 1 and 2, autism awareness, moving and handling, EYFS observation and assessment, lets get creative with babies and toddlers, introduction to music with babies and young children in the EYFS, managing difficult discussions, using the outdoors to support the curriculum, birth to three matters, policies and procedures, health and safety risk assessment, working with under 3’s, early learning goals, promoting positive behaviour in early years settings, supporting children from families experiencing domestic violence, SALLEY – structured accelerated language and literacy in the early years, child protection, arts and crafts for after school clubs, behaviour level 1, serious fun whatever the weather, knowledge and understanding of the world, dyspraxia, left handed children – the right way to help, operational plan, creating a seamless transition from early years to school, level 2 in customer relations, SEF – creating an effective self evaluation, brighter futures – outstanding practice, EYFS refresher, the role of the SENCO, developing a leader, communicating as a leader and many more.
I am responsible for the day to day running of Smartys supporting and working alongside the owner, I am responsible for guiding staff in their roles, building good relationships with all prospective (by showing them around the nurseries) and current parents (open days, parents evenings), along with all children and staff. I help to look after all of the admin at head office for the company along with playing an active part in the daily running of the toddler building completing the daily paperwork for this building. I am on hand to support the managers of our other settings and support all staff in their roles. I am the settings SENCO working with and supporting the children and parents in the toddlers playhouse. I always strive to do my very best and enjoy all aspects of my job.
Working with children has always been a passion of mine, I knew this is what I wanted to do from a very young age. I strive to be a very happy, positive and sociable person. It is my aim to offer all of the children in my care a happy, safe and stimulating environment. I thrive on watching the children grow through our settings and feel very honoured to have been a part of their young lives. I am also a very organised, tidy and artistic person offering the children a wide variety of sensory and creative activities. I also enjoy being an Aunty to my young niece.
I always try to present myself in a professional way offering a friendly and welcoming environment to all of my staff and parents, offering the enthusiasm and motivation to my team. I thoroughly enjoy my job and am a very dedicated and committed member of the team, I cannot imagine working anywhere other than Smartys.

Hi my name is Tim and I am the manager of our Pre-School at Eden court nursery. I am also a nursery driver qualified to drive our nursery vehicles.
I have over 13 years service with Smartys and experience of working with children.
I have achieved paediatric first aid, food hygiene, Safeguarding level 1 and level 2, ENCO level 1 and 2, effective team meetings, health and safety unit 1 and 2, autism awareness, moving and handling, EYFS observation and assessment, I am responsible for the day to day running of the pre-school, building good relationships with all prospective and current parents, along with all children and staff. I am on hand to support all staff in their roles. With the support of our education co-ordinator I help to oversee the delivery of the education providing our children with the best possible start in life. I am a key person ensuring all development records and observations are carried out.
Working with children is a very rewarding to see the achievements of the individuals in our care grow and develop over a period of time. I enjoy boosting their confidence and self esteem as well as enhancing their own individual personalities and giving them the social skills that they will need to tackle situations and opportunities later on in the future.
I am a very sporty person offering physical education to all of the children I look after along with running the holiday club during the school holidays including arranging trips and organising activities.

Hi my name is Steph and I am the deputy manager of the Pre-School Nursery.
I have 15 years experience of working with children including being a mum to my daughter.
I have achieved paediatric first aid, food hygiene, Safeguarding level 1 and level 2, EYFS observation and assessment, autism awareness, moving and handling, I am responsible for supporting the manager with the day to day running of the pre-school nursery, looking after parents, children and staff within the building, deploying staff, organising activities, assisting with planning and development records along with the daily paperwork of the nursery.
I love to work with children as this has always been a passion of mine, I enjoy being a part of their young lives, making a difference to them and their parents. I enjoy watching them develop in all areas of learning and most important making sure they are happy, loved and safe.
I am committed to my career along with being a very caring, kind and focused member of the team. I also like to be organised and am very clean and tidy whilst in my job.
Senior Manager and Training advisor for all settings
Early Years Teacher Status and Qualified Primary Teacher
My name is Carina and I have worked with children for the past 17 years after I completed my training as a nursery nurse. During this time I have worked in various different settings and in that time have completed a range of courses, gaining Early Years Teacher Status in 2014 and becoming a qualified primary teacher in 2018. As well as this I hold paediatric first aid and safeguarding qualifications. I am a member of Staffordshire Early Years Professional Network which means I go to regular training sessions which keeps my knowledge up to date and inspires my own practice.
I am extremely passionate about Early Years care and education and I find my job extremely rewarding. I believe that every child should have the best start in their early childhood experiences and education and feel that I play a small part in the beginning of their educational journey, I like to make this a fun and enjoyable experience so that they can go on to reach their full potential. I love teaching and sharing knowledge and I am lucky enough that at Smartys I have the opportunity to do this with the children and with the staff teams I work with.
When I am not working I love spending time with family and friends. My hobbies include walking and reading which I have lots of opportunity to do when I go camping with my husband in our new trailer tent.

Hi, My name is Jo and I am proud to introduce myself as the newest member of the Eden Court team.
I will be a Senior Nursery Nurse at Eden Court and I am very much looking forward to getting to know everyone. I have over 10 years experience working with children aged 2-11 years, 9 of those years as manager of a nursery and before and after school club. I qualified as a level 3 practitioner in 2008 and went on to gain a foundation degree in early childhood studies in 2015 with the intention of completing BA(Hons) in the same subject within the coming year.
It is my passion to support my team in understanding the fundamentals of Early childhood education and to combine the very best of care along with high quality learning opportunities in a safe and nurturing environment in order to fulfil each and every one of our children’s individual needs and abilities.
I am a firm believer that the first three years of a child’s life are some of the most important, and that we must all do our utmost to ensure that we have given every child the opportunity to be the very best version of themselves, fuelling a keen ethic for exploring and learning about the world around them.
As a parent to twin boys, I understand the importance of providing strong bonds with our families and I look forward to combining the knowledge and skills of the little stars staff along with strong communication with parents to bring out the individuality in each of the children who join us in our setting.

I have always had a passion for childcare, and initially commenced my journey with Smartys as an assistant chef, however, I am about to embark on commencing my NVQ Level 3 to assist with my existing degree qualification in English.
My interests and hobbies are going on holidays I have travelled to most places ,France Spain,Greece, portugal,canaries,Egypt Australia and more,I enjoy gardening crafts,sewing decorating, socialising with friends and most importantly being a mummy to my two little girls.
I am very much looking forward to what the future holds for me at Smartys.

Hi my name is Michelle and I am 47 years old, with two children, now grown up 25 and 18 who still live at home. I’m very family oriented and enjoy spending quality time with my husband and partner of 31 years. I enjoy caravan holidays in the uk and abroad, with our 2 little dogs, enjoying walking and cycling.
I’ve been lucky enough to just work part time since my children were born and enjoyed fun and educational days with them as a young mum. So I believe, I still have a lovely caring nature with young children.
I’ve recently passed my Level 2 Food and Hygiene and also Level 2 Introduction in child protection and I’m looking forward to gaining more qualifications while working at Smarty’s
NVQ level 3 and 4 in childcare and management.
Hi my name is Ange and I am a nursery nurse and I float around all of our settings, however, I work primarily iwthin our Eden Court Pre-School Nursery.
I have 20 years experience of working with children including play groups and nursery settings before joining Smartys in 2013.
I have achieved EYFS training, A1 assesor award, play and the developing child.
I am responsible for supporting the room supervisor within the day to day running of the teeny room, ensuring the room runs smoothly along with ensuring the children, staff and parents welfare and health are met at all times.
I work with children because I enjoy every day being different, they make me smile and laugh at their little ways. As a mum of one and aunty I am a very caring person, I enjoy playing with the children and being spontaneous with activities
