Our School Club Team

Smartys popular before / after school and holiday club is based within the grounds of Pirehill First School operating from the main school hall sharing access to the school’s play grounds and outdoor space.
Our operating times are from 7:30am until 9:00am for before school care and from 3:30pm until 6:00pm for after school care. Our holiday club is open daily from 7:30am until 6:00pm during all of the school holidays.

Eden Court Nursery Manager

Hi my name is Tim and I am the manager of our Pre-School at Eden court nursery. I am also a nursery driver qualified to drive our nursery vehicles.
I have over 13 years service with Smartys and experience of working with children.

I have achieved paediatric first aid, food hygiene, Safeguarding level 1 and level 2, ENCO level 1 and 2, effective team meetings, health and safety unit 1 and 2, autism awareness, moving and handling, EYFS observation and assessment, I am responsible for the day to day running of the pre-school, building good relationships with all prospective and current parents, along with all children and staff. I am on hand to support all staff in their roles. With the support of our education co-ordinator I help to oversee the delivery of the education providing our children with the best possible start in life. I am a key person ensuring all development records and observations are carried out.

Working with children is a very rewarding to see the achievements of the individuals in our care grow and develop over a period of time. I enjoy boosting their confidence and self esteem as well as enhancing their own individual personalities and giving them the social skills that they will need to tackle situations and opportunities later on in the future.

I am a very sporty person offering physical education to all of the children I look after along with running the holiday club during the school holidays including arranging trips and organising activities.

I always try to present myself in a professional way being friendly and welcoming to all children, staff and parents, a dedicated and committed member of the Smartys team.

Hi my name is Alison and I am the manager at our before and after school / holiday club. I am also a nursery nurse in our Pirehill Pre-School nursery.

I have years experience of working with children along with being a mum to two older children.

I have achieved paediatric first aid, Safeguarding level 1, food hygiene, health and safety in childcare setting and promoting the health and hygiene of children.

I am responsible and enjoy aiding the manager with the day to day running of the school and holiday club.

Hi my name is Mandy and I am a senior playworker at our after school club.

I have over 14 years experience of working with children along with being a mum to my older daughter.

I have achieved paediatric first aid, Safeguarding level 1, pre-school practice, NVQ level 2 customer relations, emergency and basic first aid, managing children’s behaviour, special needs awareness, sports and health awareness, various beauty qualifications and many more.

I am responsible and enjoy aiding the manager and senior staff with the day to day running of the school hall. I help to ensure that the areas run smoothly by keeping the rooms tidy and safe for the children to play in. I enjoy interacting with all children, staff and parents and am happy to do any duties that are required from me.

I enjoy working with children because it is very rewarding being able to look after and care for someone’s precious little one !! Each day is a surprise, a child’s laugh is the best sound !!

I always try to be an organised person who is very punctual. I am an older mummy and I am a member of the girl guiding Staffordshire looking after the rainbow section (children aged from 5-7 years). I enjoy traveling to work every afternoon.

Hi my name is Leanne and I am a play worker at our before and after school / holiday club.

I have over 7 years experience of working with children along with looking after families children.

I have achieved paediatric first aid, Safeguarding level 1, food hygiene level 1 and EYFS training.

I am responsible and enjoy aiding the manager and senior staff with the day to day running of the school hall. I follow the EYFS and all of the clubs policies throughout my day helping to ensure that the areas run smoothly by keeping the rooms tidy and safe for the children to play in. I ensure that all of the children are happy and enjoy their time at the club. I like to liase with the manager and under take all duties required from me. I enjoy doing the walking bus to and from the middle school ensuring the children’s safety is met at all times. I like to build excellent relationships with all of the children and make them feel safe and secure.

I enjoy working with children because I feel it is a very rewarding job, I love being with the children, they always make me smile and make the job worth while. They remind me why i chose a career in childcare.

I am a very tidy person and like to be involved in all activities. I am happy to travel to work every morning and afternoon

Hi my name is Mark and I am a nursery nurse in our pre-school nursery and school / holiday club.

I have over 3 years experience of working with children.

I have achieved paediatric first aid, food hygiene, Safeguarding level 1 and EYFS training.

I am responsible and enjoy aiding the manager and senior staff with the day to day running of the pre-school classroom and school hall. I help to ensure that the areas run smoothly by keeping the rooms tidy and safe for the children to play in. I enjoy helping and assisting with the daily activities and helping to complete the relevant paperwork that is required from me. I really enjoy interacting with the children each day.

I enjoy working with children because each day is different, the children present unique challenges and all behave and interact in different ways, often with humerous results. It provides a great deal of enjoyment and pleasure.

I always try to be an organised person who is very punctual and willing to go the extra mile to help others. I am looking forward to achieving my level 3 and can honestly say that I enjoy travelling to work every day.

Clive Turner

Nursery Mini Bus Driver
PSV and CPC Driver Trained

Hi my name is Clive and I am the nursery driver.

I have nearly 2 years experience of working with children along with being a parent to two children and a grandparent to one.

I have achieved Safeguarding level 1, ONC in business studies, PGDIP in operations management, PSV and CPC trained in driving a mini bus / coach.

I am responsible for the safe transportation of the children to and from the local schools. It is my role as a driver to take the children to school and pick them up using the nursery minibus. I ensure that the children’s safety is paramount at all times. I also ensure that all of the relevant documentation and paperwork that is required for the PSV license is completed this includes daily checks of the vehicles and regular contact with the transport manager. I also ensure that the buses are cleaned and ready to use each week.

I enjoy driving the buses each day, it is only a minor way to assist the children but it is very rewarding knowing that I have been a part of their lives taking them to and from school, acting out the role of a parent.

I am a very reliable, organised and systematic member of the team ensuring the smooth running of the daily school runs at all times.

Hi my name is Lisa, I have worked for Smartys for two and a half years, I work full time in the club to support ALison Wilson, I am school club driver and also work three days a week in Little Stars Nursery.

I am a qualified Paedriatric First Aider and am currently working towards my NVQ Level 3. Having worked as a health and safety professional for over twenty years, I support the business in health and safety matters.

I am involved in Girlguiding and have been a Brownie Guider in Stone for longer than I care to remember, offering weekly opportunities to girls and a number of weekend adventures too, and this is reflected within my practice within Smartys.

My name is Jennifer, and I have been working for Smartys before and after school club for nearly a year now. After working in offices for many years, Smartys’s have welcomed me with open arms and taught me so much. My son who’s nearly 20 went to the toddlers bungalow and before and after school club and it’s nice for me to give something back after all the years of caring for him.

I have achieved the following qualifications whilst working for smartys: paediatric first aid, food hygiene, Safeguarding level 1

I love working with children because I am a loving, caring person who thrives to see the children grow and develop. I aim to provide the best possible care for all of the children, meeting their individual needs.

I am also a driver for Smartys and I always try to present myself in a professional way. I am very friendly and welcoming to all staff and parents, a true team player offering care and support to the team.

Hi I’m Megan, I work at pirehill school club , I help assit with the school run to local schools and also work at Little Stars Nusery when required.

I have achieved NVQ level 3 in childcare, Paediatric First Aid, safeguarding level 1 and food hygiene.

Within my roles for smartys I support and work alongside the staff within a variety of settings and help with the day to day running and activities. I enjoy working with children because it is a highly rewarding job, I love seeing the children smiling laughing having fun and learning, this is because I am an incredibly caring person who likes to see children thrive.

Furthermore, in my spare time I volunteer as a scout leader. I also enjoy walking, socialising and looking after the children within the family.
