Our unique provision is made up of two thoughtfully designed units — the Bungalow Unit and the Playhouse Unit — each tailored to meet the specific needs of different stages of early development.

Our Two Specialist Units

The Bungalow Unit cares for children from birth to 18 months, providing a calm, secure, and sensory-rich environment where our youngest explorers can feel safe, supported, and nurtured.

The Playhouse Unit is designed for children aged 18 to 30 months, offering a stimulating and engaging space where curiosity, independence, and early learning flourish.

Little Explorers Setting Curriculum

Both units work closely together, sharing outdoor facilities and a communal car park. Our team flows seamlessly between the two spaces, creating a consistent and familiar experience for every child.

A Thoughtfully Designed Environment

At Smartys Little Explorers, our environment has been carefully created with young children in mind. Our open-plan spaces promote exploration and interaction, while calming colours and thoughtfully chosen layouts help children feel relaxed and secure.

We pride ourselves on offering a wide range of high-quality, bespoke resources and equipment, all selected to inspire curiosity, creativity, and development at every stage.

We follow parent’s wishes as to where and when the babies sleep. We have a variety of cots, bouncers and sleep mats. We do not have set times for sleeping. Babies sleep as needed but also in line with their parents wishes.

Our babies nappies are changed regularly throughout the day or whenever needed. The carers check the babies’ nappies regularly. Each child has their own box where we store your child’s own nappies, wipes and creams (we do ask for parents to provide these).

Our babies are encouraged to explore and become mobile as they begin to cruise, crawl and walk around the rooms.

Capacity and Care

• The Bungalow Unit accommodates up to 21 children

• Together, Smartys Little Explorers provides care for up to 43 children per day

Our Dedicated Team

Our experienced and highly skilled team are passionate about early childhood development. Each member of staff brings specialist knowledge and experience in caring for children within our age groups, ensuring every child receives attentive, responsive, and high-quality care.

Continuing the Journey

As children complete their journey at Smartys Little Explorers, they are supported in transitioning to our sister setting, Smartys Little Acorns, where their learning and development continues to grow and flourish.
