Provide opportunities for the individual child to achieve his or her full potential whilst being careful not to control the child’s direction or choice.
At Smartys we believe that we can best meet the needs of individual children by working closely with parents/carers.
We aim to develop partnerships between parents/carers and staff which are based on mutual trust and respect, which promote the sharing of information and knowledge for the benefit of the children in our care.
Parents are encouraged at all times to discuss and share any information, concerns or queries with staff, and can speak to a member of staff at any time.
We pride ourselves on building long serving and trusting relationship with our parents, we look after your children as if they were our own.
“The excellent relationships between staff and parents help children feel secure and confident and systems for seeking and implementing parental views are thriving.”
“Outstanding arrangements are in place for exchanging information with parents to ensure each child’s individual welfare needs are known and fully met. Staff value, respect and encourage parental involvement and often extends this to other members of the family such as grandparents.”
“Parents contribute to the initial assessment of children’s capabilities on entry. They are kept well informed of their children’s progress through regular discussions and parent’s evenings. Many of them contribute observations from home by adding comments to the ‘proud clouds’ which are displayed in the downstairs room. This makes the children and parents feel valued.”
“Parents spoken to on the day clearly indicate how strongly they feel about their child’s progression in the setting and speak highly of the strong relationships between staff and children.”
“Partnerships with parents are excellent”
“Partnership with parents is very effective and practitioners provide regular opportunities for parents to become involved in the life of the nursery.”
Smartys are always striving high to make your journey with Smartys a very happy and memorable one.
We follow parent’s wishes as to where and when the babies sleep. We have a variety of cots, bouncers and sleep mats. We do not have set times for sleeping. Babies sleep as needed but also in line with their parents wishes.
Our babies nappies are changed regularly throughout the day or whenever needed. The carers check the babies’ nappies regularly. Each child has their own box where we store your child’s own nappies, wipes and creams (we do ask for parents to provide these).
Our babies are encouraged to explore and become mobile as they begin to cruise, crawl and walk around the rooms.
